Designing Wedding Programs

Well Hiya! I've been a busy little bee! :) I've been sewing like crazy, and cooking and cleaning! And today I've been working on a friends Wedding Programs! :) She was in my wedding in 2010 and now she's getting married in the next couple of weeks!!! :) so exciting!

This is her and her boyfriend (now fiance) at our wedding. Aren't they gorgeous!!!!

Well anyway, she asked me a while ago to make them and has been soooooooo busy this past summer that she hasn't had time to get me the info for the programs til last night! :) lol :) So I've worked on it a little last night and worked on it for a few more hours today and I've finished the rough draft!! :) yeah! :)

 front...

inside :)

So we see what all comes of it :)

The damask symbol on the inside pages, I drew in Illustrator! It took forever and a day but it was well worth it! I love it! :) I think it turned out beautifully! :)

The program itself was designed in InDesign :) Boy do I love these programs!!! :) And Photoshop and Bridge too! Lets not forget those! :)

So we will see if she agrees with me :) lol :)
I wasn't given any specific colors yet so thats why its black and white. Easily changed tho :)

Anyway I just thought you might like to share in my excitement :)

Have a fabulous day! :)

Sewing Projects :)

Hey! :) Remember the list of tutorials I showed you at that new blog? well today I tried 3 different ones :) of course I always add a twist cause I want my own spin on it, or its my inner rebel not wanting to do it that way (although I'm not sure which....)  lol :)

So I made my version of the Flat Iron Case *Pictured Below*
(this obviously isn't mine, I'm using it for reference)

It went well :) I think I'll improvise the way I do it next time. (I didn't use binding cause I'm not a huge fan of it)
 Tada!!!
Now I know it's not as pretty but I still like it :) and I must say it does look better in person! :) lol :) the lighting in my sewing room is very "yellow-ish" lol :)

 I used a grey/white/yellow combo :)

This next time I try it, I will think it all out first rather than just jumping in with both feet :) I have an idea of how I think it will work better, but we shall see :) lol :) it still works and is functional but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to stuff I make. so... ya.... gonna try that one again :)

And then, I made the Travel Toiletries Wrap! *Pictured Below*
(Of course this one isn't mine either! lol)

But this one is!!! :)
This is the outside... (it looks bubbly but it's actually sewn straight but I was lazy and didn't take out the stuff in the slots so it bubbled and didn't lay flat for the pic... lol :)
 Inside...
Rolled up :)
So now, instead of getting a plastic bag all wet and grimy (and potentially nasty) when we travel, now I can stick the stuff straight into the towel case thingy, and when we get home after our trip I can just throw it in the wash! :) *pa-fect da'ling!* :)

Stress free is the best way to go! :)

And, again, I didn't just have a towel or spare washcloth laying around that I could use for it, so I improvised and used a piece of terry cloth that I had in my sewing stash :) I also added a few extra "slots" for my husbands stuff too :) so I have 2 - 2" slots, a 3" slot and then 2 more 2" slots, so 5 total :) And I added a pretty piece of fabric (that matched my Flat Iron Case on top of the white terry cloth) and went to town :)

It was fun :)

And then of course I made this!!! Its a camera strap case :) yeah!!! :)

And I added a little pocket for the lens cap :)
It was a lot of fun :) I made it a touch longer than the length of it so it would ruffle up a little bit :) And it turned out perfectly!!! :) I'm very pleased with it :)

Tomorrow hopefully I'll get a chance to practice and take some fun shots :) so we'll see :)

Now I just need to make a camera bag... I hate carrying around a mini duffle bag with everything just thrown in... So I have an idea of what I wanna make but we shall see.... I may have to improvise it a tiny bit and make the bag itself a little wider... If I am successful I will surely give a tutorial...

And in case you were wondering, (cause I'm sure you all are...) I also took apart a pair of pants at pretty much every seem except the inner seem and crotch, and made it 4 sizes smaller for a lady friend. I took out the waist band which was part elastic/part flat, front panel pockets, hems, side seems; and the then took it all in, matched everything back up and put it all back together again! :) And started on a set of curtains for a guy's new place :) lol :) O, and yes I was late picking my hubby up from work at 3! :) lol!

But anyway :) I hope you all have a fabulous day! :)

Lemme know if you have any amazing projects you worked on :) feel free to share a picture :) I'd love to see them :)

New Blogs to follow!

Hey! sorry I haven't posted lately.... I've been couch-ridden for the last week or so... My wisdom tooth was moving again and I couldn't get up without fighting the rush of pressure and the instant feeling of passing out or vomiting... gross I know!

Anyway! I found a new blog of sorts on Pinterest and I love it! It has a ton of really cool tutorials of stuff you can actually use or make for yourself or a friend :)

Its called Sew4Home :)

They have blankets, and dresses, and purses, and make up bags, and on and on! :) and they're good ones too! :) Not just 1 picture and then just instructions! Its got pictures with each step and its very helpful! :)

I know I will be using some of the tutorials for sure!

Here are a few of my favorites...

And there are sooooooooo many more pages that i haven't gone through yet but I will make it happen soon! :)

Now I couldn't find a "follow by email" or "subscribe to posts" link so idk if you can or not? if anyone finds it please tell me so I can follow their blog :)

I hope you enjoyed these! :)
Now go make something for yourself or as a gift and make someones day :)

Strawberry Smoothies :)

Mmmmmm! Doesn't  a strawberry smoothie just sound fabulous right now?!
O be jealous cause I'm drinking one now! :)
 Are you drooling yet? :)

Wanna make your own? :)

Strawberry Smoothie

8 strawberries
1/4 - 1/2 cup yogurt (depends on how yogurt-y you want it to taste)
1/2 cup milk
1/8 cup sugar (again depends on your taste)
*Ice optional*

Dump it all into the blender and blend til there aren't any more strawberry chunks or ice chunks :)

Pour into a jar or mug and enjoy! :)
*Now remember if you add ice you'll need a bigger mug or glass*
Usually I add ice, but unfortunately our ice cube trays are all empty :( but it tastes just as good!!! :)

You can always add different kind of fruit :) the possibilities are endless!
*bananas
*kiwis
*apples?
*oranges
*peaches
Mix and match your favorite fruits :) maybe even throw in some veggies???

Now go make a smoothie! :) And pat yourself on the back for being healthy and passing up that soda that is screaming your name :)

Have a fabulous day! :)

Patching a rip in a skirt

Hey! just wanted to show you really quick a patch job I just did :) the skirt was ankle length with 2 slits up both sides about to my knee. The one slit had ripped and I'd sewn it up and it ripped again, and so on and so forth lol :) it was just bad! LOL so I decided to shorten the skirt and make a patch out of the leftover piece :)
This is the skirt in half so you can see the whole heart :) I also hemmed it. If you wanted to you could just stitch around the base and snip it to give it a frayed edge.
you can see the previous zig-zag patch jobs that I'd done on both sides of this slit...
I sewed lines over the heart to give it support so that it was stuck on really well and wouldn't rip at the tip of the heart. It also kinda gives it texture which I like :)  O and I also snipped along the edge of the heart so as it gets washed and dried it'll fray all nice :)

anyway :) have a fabulous day! :)
